Exhibition Summary

My vision for presenting this body of work was to explore my self identity through visual means, touching upon matters of my psyche, self confidence, self image, and the different, oftentimes contrasting, identities that I take on. I curated ten self portraits in differing scenarios: a girl caught up in her daydreams, a woman trying to become more interconnected with her natural surroundings, the optimistic side of my personality, the pessimistic side, and so on. I showcased my artwork in my school library as high school is a place where you are constantly being perceived, talked about, and judged, which makes it increasingly important to have a strong sense of self which is what my exhibition demonstrates and argues.
